Tents are Clemens Posch and Paul Stöttinger. Their latest releases include the singles “Hex“, “Locker“ and “By The River“. After their EP “Under My Wings“ (2016) Tents released the full length album “Stars on the GPS Sky“ in 2018 (all Numavi Records). The new album „Limbo“ will be out on Siluh Records in May 2021.
“Fiji Falls”, the first single from the self-produced album “Limbo“ (Siluh Records) presents a fresh interpretation of the synth textures from 80s pop. It is driven by a throbbing synth arpeggio and a mechanic drum beat generating a monotonous repetition. The impression of being caught in a loop is intensified by the recitative vocals that tell about treading water and false progress. It’s the chorus that seeks to escape that paralysis in a utopian vision: “when Fiji Falls stop to flow, there’s unlimited ways to go again“. The allusion to Fiji water, a plastic bottle turned into a status symbol, hints at the stylized marketing fictions of wellbeing distracting from the general stagnation.
