Bulbul is a band from Vienna, Austria, who combine Rock with Dance, Electronic and Experiment.
Their musical approach is a unique blend of the unexpected and the unpredictable throwing monolithic rhythms down your throat that make you dance. Once your legs start moving, they’ve already left your body, crossed the motorway, crashed straight into the roadside trees, and started cutting wood or maybe searching for small furry animals.
BULBUL incorporate pop musics’ superficiality as well as the structure beneath – they can annihilate the cheapest rhythm and morph it into the most virtuous and complex arrangement, all within the blink of the eye. As monstrous walls of sound channel into introspective patterns you just stand there, mouth agape while you ask yourself “how the hell is this possible and why does it feel so good?”.
In 2016 Bulbul celebrated their 20th band-anniversery with playing completely different shows every month and releasing a 7″ Single for each event (Rock is Hell / RIP69).
On 11th dec 2019 a 4-song EP to be released: digital on siluh records, analog as a 3-song-12″ with a hidden track (Rock is Hell records)
For their eighth album the trio joined forces
with producer Zebo Adam (a. o. Bilderbuch…).
On KODAK DREAM they enter an exciting sound cosmos, opening a
new chapter in their remarkable and enigmatic band history.
Manfred Engelmayr – guitar, vocals
Roland Rathmair – bass, vocals
